Communication majors are required to complete a major core comprised of eight courses, which is designed to give students a thorough theoretical grounding in the discipline.

Each major is also required to select an area of concentration, comprised of an additional six courses, which allow students to explore an area of the discipline in depth and to build specific communication skills.

This concentration provides an overview of international, intercultural, and interpersonal communication models and strategies. Studies in this concentration promote international awareness and participation, and prepare students for working with culturally diverse groups and organizations.
In the required courses of this concentration, students learn the basic skills of reporting and editing for the print media, examine the organization and operation of today's newspapers, and study contemporary issues in journalism. In the elective courses, they are able to explore a variety of journalistic specialties.

This concentration allows students to explore one of four areas: television production, digital media production, audio production, or film studies.Within each of those areas, students are exposed to an overview of: production techniques, script writing, while examining the structures and functions of media organizations.

The Public and Corporate Communication concentration focuses on theknowledge and skills required to develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships between organizations or individuals and their publics.
Students learn the skills, concepts and theoretical background to enable them to plan, implement and evaluate communication programs directed toward
relationship building.
